Performance project R-A-L-L-Y revives Union Square’s historic role as the gathering place for rallies, demonstrations, and celebrations additionally imbuing it with a message of self-empowerment. Parading hand-made “signs,” performers will encourage pedestrians to stroll with a 3-foot letter to Union Square Park where they will join other members of the alphabet to form optimistic phrases.

Time/Location: Sunday, October 11, 18 (1-3pm). Beginning in Alphabet City and the Meat Packing District, performers will walk along 14th Street and convene on north and south sides of Union Square Park.

LOUDspeaker! is Jenn Dierdorf and Heather Willems. Their collaborative work comes from a shared interest in text, language and the written word as well as the notion of self-empowerment. Whether it is through spoken, written or physical declarations, their work seeks to examine the difficult but necessary act of personal or public change. (Link these from blog?,,
