Do It Together!

Due to the tremendous involvement of the Union Square community, LOUDspeaker! was successful in bringing people together through a peaceful yet colorful R-A-L-L-Y. At 1PM performers began their journey walking down 14th Street: interacting with people at bus stops, coffee shops, and along the side walks.
As they neared the park, they encouraged pedestrians to join in, from 2:30 – 3:00 PM they participated in spelling phrases of encouragement for onlookers .
The event was followed with free form spelling and discussions with viewers about the history of Union Square as a place for people to voice their opinions in both rallies and protests.
The consensus for Sunday’s event is that giant sculptural letters increase hipsters’ coolness, encourage jumping & laughter among small children, flashes tourists cameras, and elicits smiles in the most seasoned of New Yorkers.
