Jenn + Heather = LOUDspeaker! + you = R-A-L-L-Y
Rain date…think sunshine!
Thank you to everyone who helped out with R-A-L-L-Y on Sunday October 11th!
It was a huge success and we delighted adults and children alike, from alphabet city to the meat packing district!
We plan on doing the whole thing again this coming Sunday October 18th with different phrases AND more free form spelling!
In the event of rain however, we will push the performance back to Sunday, October 25th from 1-3pm.
Hope to see you there!
Do It Together!
Due to the tremendous involvement of the Union Square community, LOUDspeaker! was successful in bringing people together through a peaceful yet colorful R-A-L-L-Y. At 1PM performers began their journey walking down 14th Street: interacting with people at bus stops, coffee shops, and along the side walks.
As they neared the park, they encouraged pedestrians to join in, from 2:30 – 3:00 PM they participated in spelling phrases of encouragement for onlookers .
The event was followed with free form spelling and discussions with viewers about the history of Union Square as a place for people to voice their opinions in both rallies and protests.
The consensus for Sunday’s event is that giant sculptural letters increase hipsters’ coolness, encourage jumping & laughter among small children, flashes tourists cameras, and elicits smiles in the most seasoned of New Yorkers.
